Our recommendations should still fit your needs, which is why we also explain limitations and situations where a MONAT product is not the right solution.

The MONAT Studio One™ line pulls styling together in one place: heat protection, a blow-dry cream, a dry shampoo for second-day hair and a mousse for volume, plus the anti-frizz and curl ranges. The order follows a fixed logic — cleanse and condition first (rinse out), then protection and leave-ins into towel-dry hair, and the actual styling last. That way no product works against another.

The MONAT Studio One™ family at a glance

MONAT groups its styling under the name Studio One™. The building blocks you are most likely to reach for:

  • MONAT Studio One™ Heat Protectant Spray — the heat shield before a blow-dryer, straightener or curling tong.
  • MONAT Studio One™ Blow-Dry Cream — a blow-dry cream that smooths the hair as it dries and keeps it workable.
  • MONAT Studio One™ The Champ™ Conditioning Dry Shampoo — a dry shampoo for a fresh root on day two or three.
  • The Moxie™ Volume Mousse — a setting mousse for fullness and grip at the roots.
  • the Smoothing Anti-Frizz™ range for a smooth, frizz-free finish and the Curl Perfection™ range for defined curls.

Which of these products are currently stocked in your market changes over time. If in doubt, ask your advisor about the current line-up — and where a product isn't available, work with what you have. The sequence stays the same.

The one rule: rinse out, then leave-in, then styling last

Whatever products you combine, the order carries the result. It is always the same:

  1. Rinse-out products first — shampoo and conditioner in the shower. They wash out and lay the foundation.
  2. Protection and leave-in next — into towel-dry hair, before any heat comes into play. This is where the Heat Protectant Spray belongs.
  3. Styling last — blow-dry cream, mousse, anti-frizz or curl products onto the prepared hair, just before or during shaping.

This logic goes beyond MONAT. Once you have understood it, you can combine any hair care correctly; there is a fuller explanation in the guide on the order to apply hair products. Broadly: the thin and rinse-out things first, then the creamy ones, and the holding products last.

Essentials and extras: what you actually need

Not every product belongs in every routine. Separate the core from the optional:

Core — the two that get you right almost every time:

  • a heat protectant, whenever a hot tool touches the hair (Studio One™ Heat Protectant Spray)
  • a base styler that suits your hair shape — Blow-Dry Cream for smooth blow-outs, a curl product for curls

Optional — depending on the day and the need:

  • mousse (The Moxie™) for extra volume at the roots
  • dry shampoo (The Champ™) for day two
  • anti-frizz products in humidity and for flyaways

More is not automatically better: layering three styling products on top of one another often weighs the hair down instead of shaping it. Start with the core and add only what solves a specific problem.

By need: the right order

Heat protection. The most important point up front: only products explicitly labelled as heat protection actually protect against heat. A hair oil makes the lengths supple but is no substitute for a heat protectant — at worst it can even heat up. Spray the Studio One™ Heat Protectant Spray into towel-dry hair before the blow-dryer or straightener comes into play. The guide on heat protectant for hair explains why this matters so much.

Smoothing. The goal is a smooth, calm surface. Order: rinse out shampoo and conditioner, heat protectant into wet hair, then work the Blow-Dry Cream through the lengths and blow-dry the hair in sections until smooth — with a round-brush pull or directed downward. For heavy frizz, add a product from the Smoothing Anti-Frizz™ range, sparingly through the lengths and ends.

Volume. Fullness is built at the wet root. After the heat protectant, work The Moxie™ Volume Mousse from the roots into the lengths and blow-dry with your head flipped over, or lift the roots upward with a round brush. Finer hair benefits more from technique and mousse here than from heavy creams — the guide on fine hair and volume fits alongside this.

Curls. Curls are styled into soaking-wet hair and then left alone. After rinsing and a generous conditioner, distribute a product from the Curl Perfection™ range through dripping-wet hair, scrunch the sections and let them air-dry, or diffuse with low heat. You will find the whole wash day step by step under caring for curls and waves.

Second day. Freshly washed is not compulsory. For an oily root, spray The Champ™ Conditioning Dry Shampoo onto the roots from a little distance, let it sit briefly and massage it in. Curls are better revived with water and a light leave-in than with dry shampoo.

When MONAT doesn't (yet) have its own product

For some needs there is no dedicated Studio One™ product — and that is fine. A strong hold spray or a texture spray, for example, isn't a fixed part of the core line; here you may add what works without throwing the MONAT base overboard. In the same way, the availability of individual curl or anti-frizz items varies by market. The principle stays the same: keep to the order, don't forget heat protection, layer sparingly. Which specific products are currently in stock is best clarified directly with your advisor.

Quick questions

In what order do the MONAT styling products go into the hair? Rinse-out products first (shampoo, conditioner), then heat protectant and leave-in into towel-dry hair, and styling last — blow-dry cream, mousse or curl product. The holding products always come right at the end.

Is a hair oil enough as heat protection? No. Only products explicitly labelled as heat protection protect against heat. Oil makes the hair supple but does not replace the Heat Protectant Spray.

Do I need all the Studio One™ products? No. The core is a heat protectant plus a base styler that suits your hair shape. Mousse, dry shampoo and anti-frizz are optional — use them only when there is a specific need.

What do I do on the second day? Refresh the roots with The Champ™ Conditioning Dry Shampoo. Curls are better brought back to life with a little water and a light leave-in than with dry shampoo.
